What is making it?

What does it mean to have made it in life?

Who will tell you what making it is?

Who will tell you what you have to do to "make it"?

Is making it acquiring wealth? Is making it amassing possessions? Is making it becoming world famous? Is making it having a town named after you? Is making it having a million strong fan club screaming for you? Is making it winning an Oscar? An Emmy? Is making it when there's a monument built for you? Is making it when you have your own talk show?

The answer? None of the above.

Here's what making it is:

I was born. Therefore I've made it. End of story.

You're born. Ergo you've made it. What else did you think making it is? That's it. And this is it.

Now that you know what making it is, I'll tell you what you have to do to make it.

To make it, what you have to do is nothing.

Making it is actually very easy. You've already made it.

It's doing nothing that's the hard part. ...............Reread by Ved

  1. the very reason why this question or this realization comes is when we compare our 'making it' to other's 'making it'.By what you suggest, the very comparison of one to another is the provider of this question and i am certain that this provider can never be taken out of the question, hence nor this question.

  2. On a wider perspective, you've nailed the topic. However, we cannot do 'Nothing' since it would be contrary to the very nature of Life which is to change all the time and with change comes the idea of comparison. The idea of 'Making it' as listed by you, is often defined by minds that fail to see beyond material goals or just tired personalities who never bothered to think beyond 'the popular ideas' of achievement and these ideas change with time and cultures. 'Making it' is a concept thought to start after you are born to find that very purpose of one's birth. Making it is about material gains to some and much more to some others. While Krsna taught us to just do and not worry about the result, he certainly didnt stop us from asking why. This concept exists to help one find a direction while there is a path to walk on. It only exists to tell you in the end whether you have made it till the END.
